Merry Christmas!

Fröhliche Weihnachten, liebe Leute!
Tut mir Leid, dass ich mich erst so spät melde, aber ihr kennt doch sicher den typischen Weihnachtsstress, in den man verfällt, oder?
Mein Weihnachten war zauberhaft! Meine ganze Familie war da, das Essen war unschlagbar gut (und unschlagbar viel), und ich bin so eingedeckt mit Geschenken, dass ich fast ersticke. Ich bin für jedes einzelne dankbar, aber woah, Leute, gebt nicht so viel Geld für mich aus!

Merry Christmas to you all! I'm sorry I'm that late. How was your Christmas? Mine was wonderful. I saw my whole family, ate loads of delicious food, and got so many presents that I went like "Hey, stop spending so much money for me, guys!". I'm really thankful for it though. 

Für diesen Blog sind wohl vor allem meine neue Kameratasche (ich nenne sie liebevoll Kartoffelknutscher, weil sie auf der einen Seite meine Kamera tarnt, und auf der anderen Seite so anschmiegsam wie ein Kuss ist), und mein Stativ interessant. Diese erlauben mir, noch flexibler zu sein, was Fotoshootings angeht.

This should be the most interesting ones for you. It's my brand new camera bag, which I love to death, and my little (well, not really) tripod. They are going to make the whole taking-pictures-whereever-I-am-thing much easier.

Wenn euch das interessieren sollte, würde ich euch erzählen, was ich sonst so bekommen habe. Aber falls nicht, auch okay. Ich wollte euch jetzt nicht total vollladen mit etwas, was ihr überhaupt nicht wissen wollt.

Ich hoffe, ihr hattet ein schönes, unvergleichliches Weihnachtsfest, mit scheußlich wunderbarem Essen, Geschenken, über die ihr euch wahnsinnig gefreut habt, und so viel Liebe, das einem fast schlecht davon wird!
Was habt ihr denn so bekommen? Mich interessiert es auf jeden Fall.

House Cleaning

Womit habe ich meinen Samstag verbracht? Anstatt zu feiern, dass die Welt wohl erst einmal nicht untergeht, habe ich mit dem Rest meiner Familie das Haus aufgeräumt und auch in den Ecken geputzt, die sonst erst einmal außer Acht gelassen werden.
Natürlich fällt mir bei so etwas immer das auf, was es irgendwie wert ist, fotografiert zu werden.

What did I do today? Instead of enjoying that the world obviously didn't end and we're all alive, I cleaned the house with the rest of my family. Of course, I noticed a few things that were worth taking a picture of. So, enjoy!

Putzen ist gar nicht so schlimm, wie man immer denkt... morgen mache ich mit meinen Zimmern weiter. Dann kann Weihnachten kommen. 

Cleaning isn't as bad as I always thought... Gonna tidy up my rooms tomorrow. Christmas can come now!

The Smell Of Christmas

Guess what, guys?
After my mum (hi mum!) read my last post, she went out to buy me a perfumed candle. And since she couldn't decide on one to get, she bought two instead. Thank you so much, mum, they are both amazing!

The one that is burning right now is called "Red Apple Wreath" and is a "Yankee Candle" (that's the brand's name). It smells like red apples. I know that's what it's supposed to smell like, but it's just adorable. Actually it also smells like caramel popcorn, if that makes any sense.

The second one she got me is called "Mandarin Cranberry" and is from "Yankee Candle", too. I have to admit I like this one even more than the Red Apple one even though I can't really say why.
Now my whole room is filled with a nice candy apple smell. I love Christmas!

And tomorrow's St. Nicholas Day, which is a big deal in Germany. I don't know why, but I do actually think of it as part of Christmas, even though it is not connected to the Christmas Story.

Boredom

Kennt ihr das, wenn man plötzlich feststellt, dass schon wieder so viel Zeit vergangen ist, in der ihr etwas Nützliches hättet tun können?
Ich habe das ganze Wochenende über nur Assassin's Creed gespielt (ich bin gar nicht so schlecht, wie man meinen sollte), habe Kekse in mich reingestopft (aber auch welche gebacken), Fotos von herumliegenden/-stehenden Dingen gemacht, die eigentlich total langweilig sind, und die Luft mit meinen gelangweilten Blicken erdolcht.
Gestern habe ich meine Chorprobe verschlafen, heute kriege ich meine Matheaufgaben nicht mehr auf die Kette. Ist doch doof. Vor allem, weil ich Dienstag die Klausur schreibe und Freitag die Geschichtsklausur im LK (Ja, ich war so bescheuert und habe Geschichts-LK gewählt!). Nächstes Wochenende wird produktiv, ich verspreche es!
Mhm. Ich zeige euch jetzt trotzdem mal ein paar der Dinge, die ich fotografiert habe.

I just love this gorgeous plate!

Yesterday was World Aids Day and we actually talked about it in school on friday. Everyone wore a white shirt and had this ribbon on it. 

We also saw a play by the Wilde Shamrock Touring Theatre on Friday. It was awesome and made me laugh more often than I had imagined. 

Sorry guys, even though it looks like I wrote a lot in German, I actually don't say anything important. I'm having two class tests coming up next week so I'll be busy. I'm sorry. Next week should be better, but hey! it'll be Christmas soon! xx

Ed Sheeran

Gestern war ich mit fünf meiner Freundinnen auf Ed Sheerans Konzert im Palladium in Köln und ich kann einfach nur sagen: Es war genial!

Erst mal zu seiner "Vorband", die nur aus einem Singer/Songwriter namens Mike Rosenberg alias Passenger bestand:
Geniale Stimme, wunderschöne Texte und ein Talent für die Gitarre. Ich habe mir direkt danach sein Album gekauft und signieren lassen und gehe im Februar auf sein Konzert in Köln. Yay! Sein aktuelles Album heißt "All the Little Lights" und besteht aus einer "normalen" und einer akkustik CD, wobei man sagen muss, dass bei der normalen CD nur noch ein paar mehr Instrumente, nicht etwa elektrische Beats oder ähnliches, hinzugefügt worden sind. Ich höre sie bereits zusammen mit Ed Sheerans Album "+" rauf und runter und bekomme gar nicht mehr genug. 

Dann aber zu Ed:
Absolut unbeschreiblich, aber ich werde mein bestes geben. Live, meiner Meinung nach, noch besser als auf den CD's. Er hat eine unglaubliche Bühnenpräsenz und seine Stimme hat sich selbst die zwei einhalb Stunden, die er durchgesungen hat, nicht anmerken lassen. Am tollsten fand ich allerdings, dass er sein Publikum im Griff hatte, und es für seinen Vorteil als riesigen Chor benutzt hat. Außerdem wirkte er total natürlich, nicht etwa abgehoben oder so etwas.
Totaler Wahnsinn!

Nächstes Konzert? Ich bin dabei!

Yesterday me and my friends went to Ed Sheeran's concert in Cologne. It was awesome.
His supporting act Mike or "Passenger" was brilliant and got me to buy tickets for his concert in february next year. I also bought his album "All the Little Lights", which I have been listening to ever since I got it, and had him sign it. Yay!
Ed Sheeran live was even better than his voice on record. His voice is amazing and filled the whole room even when he started singing without a microphone, which, by the way, was absolutely amazing. But the best thing was that he used his whole audience as one big choir. I went home with a heart full of wonderful memories, new jokes and brilliant music.
I am defenitely going to his next concert!

And this is a picture my dear friend Jojo took. She thankfully gave me permission to use it, since I sadly did not have my camera with me. 

So thank you, Ed Sheeran and Mike Rosenberg, for being an inspiration to thousands of people. You are both amazing.

Let Christmas In!

Ich muss zugeben, ich bin total vernarrt in Weihnachten. Die Nüsse, der Duft nach Lebkuchen und Spekulatius, heißem Tee und Kakao, Keksen und Tannenbäumen, die vielen Geschenke, der Wunsch nach Schnee und all so etwas eben.

Genau deshalb, habe ich jetzt beschlossen, Weihnachten schon eher als sonst in meine Gedanken einzulassen. Ich höre meine Christmas-Playlist rauf und runter, trinke Tee aus Weihnachtstassen, plane Weihnachtsgeschenke und male (ja, male!) meinen Wunschzettel. Außerdem verspüre ich den seltsamen Drang, eine Weihnachtsduftkerze zu kaufen, habe bis jetzt aber noch keine gefunden, die mir gefallen hat. Irgendwelche Vorschläge?
Außerdem zähle ich die Tage. Wie viele Tage bis zum 1. Dezember? Wie viele bis zum 1. Advent? Wie lange noch, bis Nikolaus ist (irgendwie gehört das für mich einfach mit zur Weihnachtszeit, auch wenn es von der Geschichte her nichts miteinander zu tun hat)? Und natürlich wie viele Nächte, bis endlich die wichtigste Nacht des Jahres (ja, ich stelle Weihnachten über meinen Geburtstag) anbricht?
Heute sind es noch 6 Tage bis zum 1. Dezember, 9 bis zum 1. Advent, 12 bis zum Nikolaus und genau 30 Tage bis Heiligabend. 

I have to admit I am obsessed with Christmas. The nuts and smell of cookies, hot tea, hot chocolate and Christmas trees. All of those presents, wishing for snow and stuff like that.
This is the reason why I have decided to let Christmas into my thoughts early this year. I've not stopped listening to my Christmas playlist, drink tea and hot chocolate almost every day, plan what to get for my friends and family and I draw (yes, draw!) my Christmas wishlist.
I also feel like I have to get a Christmas perfumed candle, but I still haven't found one that I like. Any suggestions?
I do count the days until the first of December, the first advent, St. Nicholas Day and of course until Christmas. And I do like Christmas even more than my own birthday, because it is filled with love and joy, and because I get to spend a lot of time with my family.
Today there are only 6 days left until 1st December, 9 until 1st advent, 12 until St. Nicholas Day and exactly 30 days left until Christmas! I am so excited!

Heute hatte ich das wahnsinnige Vergnügen, zwei meiner besten Freundinnen abzulichten.
Ich dachte mir, da der Herbst uns schon bald wieder verlässt, möchte ich die letzten bunten, schönen Blätter für etwas ganz Besonderes nutzen. Da ich auch noch die allerbesten Freundinnen habe, die sich dazu bereit erklärt haben, mit mir diesen Wahnsinn durchzustehen, habe ich meine Idee tatsächlich noch verwirklichen können. Also: Vorhang auf für Carolin und Ann-Marlen!

Ja, ich habe sie mit Hilfe von Hautkleber mit Blättern beklebt. Aber ich meine, sie haben es mit sich machen lassen, und Spaß hat es auf alle Fälle gemacht! Ich finde, sie haben sich einen Applaus verdient.

Yes, I did stick leaves on their faces, but they let me do it. And let me tell you, it was a lot of fun. What do you think?

Der Stoff ist da! - Fabric has arrived!

Tralalala! (Oh mein Gott, das reimt sich sogar! Was bin ich heute genial!)
Nun ja, ich hatte ja angekündigt, meinen Arbeitsfortschritt an meinem Kleid zu protokollieren. Einfach, um meine Kreativität auf die Welt übersprühen zu lassen, und um ganz vielleicht doch noch Interesse bei dem einen oder anderen zu wecken.
Folglich möchte ich euch heute meine Stoffe präsentieren, aus denen ich innerhalb des nächsten Jahres dieses eine, bestimmte Kleid nähen werde.

Guess what? My fabric has finally arrived. As I promised, I will keep you updated on my dress progress. So these are the pieces of fabric I decided to buy for it. 

Ein kurzer Überblick über meinen Entwurf, damit ihr auch wisst, was ich mit dem ganzen Stoff überhaupt bezwecken will!
This is what my dress will hopefully look like as soon as I am finished.

Knallblauer Tüll, der dazu da ist, dem Rock des Kleides genügend Volumen zu verleihen, und gleichzeitig den gewünschten Farbeffekt zu erzielen.
This is blue tulle to create volume and the colour of a peacock.

Schwarzer Tüll, auch, um Volumen zu Schaffen, und um die Farben etwas herunterzuspielen. (Sorry, irgendwie hatte das Licht beschlossen den Tüll grau aussehen zu lassen.)
Black tulle to create volume and to play down the colours (Sorry, my camera decided to go for grey, not black).

Grüner Organza, für die Farbe, den "Schimmereffekt" und das Volumen.
Dark green Organza for the shimmer, volume and colouf.

Dunkelblauer Organza, wieder einmal für die Farbe, das Volumen und den "Schimmereffekt".
Dark blue Organza for the same reasons I bought the green one. 

Schwarzer Schlauch-Jersey, als Unterkleid, auf dem gearbeitet werden kann.
Black Jersey to work as an undergarment.

Dunkelblauer Chiffon für das weich fallende Oberteil, außerdem leicht durchscheinend.
Blue chiffon for the top.

Pailletten in verschiedenen Grün- und Blautönen zum Verzieren und Besticken.
Sequins in different shades of green and blue. 

Wie man unschwer an meinem Entwurf erkennen kann, war meine Hauptinspiration der blaue Pfau. Ich finde einfach, er ist ein unglaublich majestätisches Tier, das irgendwie immer aussieht, als wäre es von einer anderen Welt.
Meine zweite Inspirationsquelle war der Tanz, vor allem Ballett. Ich selbst habe es nie getanzt, aber ich kann seine Eleganz durchaus schätzen. Ballett hat mich vor allem zu dem tülllastigen Rock inspiriert.

As you can see, I took inspiration from blue peacocks. I just like its feathers and its majestic appearance. My second inspiration was Ballett. Personally, I never even tried it, but I somehow really like it. It made me think of using tulle. 

Jetzt geht es ans Nähen. Es wird sehr arbeits- und zeitaufwändig werden, aber das ist es mir auf jeden Fall wert!

Now it is time to start sewing! I know, it will take a lot of time, but I hope it will be worth it.

Aus: J.R.R. Tolken - Der kleine Hobbit

Wie man sieht, bin ich aus meinem Österreich-Urlaub gesund und voller Inspiration zurückgekehrt. Ich habe, wie man vielleicht schon an meinem zitierten Text erkennen kann (der übrigens noch mal ganz deutlich nicht von mir, sondern von dem Genie des vergangenen Jahrhunderts, J.R.R. Tolkien, Erfinder der Herr der Ringe-Saga, stammt), stundenlang die Herr der Ringe-Soundtracks mit der Filmmusik von Howard Shore gehört habe. Unglaublich inspirierend, wie ich finde. Ich freue mich schon so unglaublich auf den Kinostart des ersten Hobbit-Teils im Dezember! 

Morgen früh kommt dann noch meine liebe Jojo vorbei, um sich mit mir zum Ende der Ferien noch Star Wars Teil IV, V, VI reinzuziehen. Herrlich. 

As you can see, my trip to Austria was quite nice. The mountains remembered me of J.R.R. Tolkiens "The Hobbit", in which the dwarves sing the song you can read above. I spent hours listening to the soundtracks of "The Lord Of The Rings", composed by genius Howard Shore. They inspire me a lot, you know. I am really looking forward to the release of the Hobbit movie in December.
Also my dear friend Jojo stops by tomorrow morning to celebrate the last day of our holidays with watching part IV, V and VI of the Star Wars saga. Wonderful. 

Ich muss jetzt aber auch schlafen, die drei Stunden von letzter Nacht und die wenigen, gestohlenen Momente im Auto reichen nicht noch für einen weiteren Tag.
